Core 1

"Molecular and Cellular Profiling"

Principal Investigators:
Joe Gray, LBNL, Life Sciences Division
Jin Jian, LBNL, Engineering Division
and Damir Sudar, LBNL, Life Sciences Division

This core provides centralized, high throughput, comprehensive, quality-controlled measurements of cellular and molecular characteristics of normal and cancer cell lines. Molecular analyses include microarray analyses, western blotting, and DNA sequencing. Cellular analyses provide image cytometry based information on pathway activity, proliferation, apoptosis, and motility.

This core also continues to develop baseline characteristics of the normal and cancer cell lines that comprise the breast cancer “system” and integrate these into the Pathway Logic model in Project 1. Core 1 receives experimental designs from Projects 2-4, cells from Core 3, reagents from Core 4 and executes the experiments using semi-automated instruments and core capabilities at LBNL and UCSF and transfers the resulting experimental set-up information and molecular and cellular measurements to Core 2 to be archived and distributed.

High Throughput Array Core information available here.
